The owners of a Bismarck apartment building whose tenants were left without electricity for two days are linked to a Minot motel whose long-term tenants were left without water for two weeks, according to property records and Minot officials.

The Mandan Public Works Department is planning to install a new columbarium after seeing a decrease in demand for full burials. The structure, which stores funeral urns, is expected to be completed either in "late fall or early spring."

The office will be a base for staff to gather data on the North Dakota population as part of the decennial national census on April 1. Organizers expect to employ hundreds of staff across the state.
