50 YEARS AGO (1967): Second-ranked North Dakota State is emphasizing pass defense prior to its upcoming encounter with the University of Northern Iowa. Phil Schooley, a 6-foot-3, 208-pound transfer from the University of Iowa, is rated by coach Stan Sheriff as the best quarterback he’s had at UNI. Northern Iowa upended the Bison 41-14 last season.
