10 YEARS AGO (2009): Bismarck scored 99 points in just four events to romp to the title in the Western Dakota Association indoor track meet at the University of Mary. Scoring in 13 of the 15 events, BHS racked up 170 points. Channing Mann and Randy Tardif went 1-2 for the Demons in the short sprints, trading first-place finishes.
20 YEARS AGO (1999): Four Bismarck players were voted to the coaches' all-state high school hockey team. James Massen, John Stewart and Layne Sedevie of Bismarck made the 15-man team, along with Century's Nathan Mickelson.
50 YEARS AGO (1969): Northern Iowa captured the North Central Conference track and field championship with 87 1/2 points. South Dakota State was second with 47 points in the meet, which was held in Mankato, Minn. North Dakota's Arjan Gelling was a double winner, placing first in the mile and two-mile. Bismarck's Randy Lussenden, running for North Dakota State, finished second in the mile and third in the two-mile.
North Dakota's high school boys basketball teams were divided into two classes for the 1933 tournament season.
