10 YEARS AGO (2009): Brett Hample and Aaron Stemen scored 19 and 15 points, respectively, to lead LaMoure to a 58-49 road basketball victory over Litchville-Marion-Montpelier. LaMoure clinched the win with a 24-point fourth quarter. Dillon Carpenter fired in 19 points for LMM.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Dakota Wizards forward DeRon Rutledge scored a team-record 47 points, 29 in a nearly flawless second half, to lead a 105-102 IBA basketball victory over Rapid City at the Civic Center. Rutledge added 22 rebounds to his astounding night's work. He went 10-for-11 from the field and 9-for-9 at the free throw line in the second half.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Ed Dorski, a pin ace from Minot, has set two records in the Pepsi Tournament at Midway Lanes. Dorski, who wasn't allowed a handicap due to his 200-plus average, rolled a 720 scratch series to take the lead in singles and a torrid 2,028 to top the early all-events standings. Both scores are the best in the tournament's three-year history.
