10 YEARS AGO (2009): Jake Miller found the end zone three times and the Bismarck defense stood tall in a 35-0 high school football victory at Jamestown. Miller carried just seven times for 92 yards. Esley Thorton ran for another Demon score and threw to Mack Keller for the fifth BHS touchdown.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Tim Green scored three goals and assisted on another as the University of Mary rolled over visiting Pillsbury Baptist Bible College of Owatonna, Minn., 9-0. The Marauders scored all nine goals in the first half. U-Mary outshot the Comets 14-2, with all 14 shots on net before halftime.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Coach Jack Lynch has a deep well of veterans upon which to draw as he prepares his Bismarck High School cross country team for a run at a fourth straight state title. The Demons, who have won 19 straight meets, boast 13 returning lettermen, among them 1968 state champion Leon Conitz. Larry Nayes, another senior, placed 13th in last year's state meet at Jamestown.
