10 YEARS AGO (2009): Century rallied from a 15-13 halftime deficit to defeat Fargo North 26-15 in Class AAA football in Fargo. Zach Emil scored what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown on a 40-yard run in the third quarter. Garret Jacobs added an insurance touchdown, hauling in a 45-yard pass from Jesse Kartes. Century stands 2-1. North dropped to 0-3.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Some A, some B. Some boys, some girls. The Dickinson boys with 49 points and Bowman girls with 38 points came away winners at the Mandan Kiwanis cross country meet at Prairie West Golf Course. Individual winners were Killdeer's Steven Schmidt in the boys race and Beth Hoge of Century in the girls event.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): The prospects are bright for the Beach High School Bucs as they prepare for the Badlands Conference football season. Jerome Jankowksi's returning lettermen include seniors Tom Murphy, Mike Inselberger, Dave Cameron, Tom Roberts, Mike Baertsch and Doug Davis. Beach is coming off an 0-8 season.
