10 YEARS AGO (2009): Carol Peterson leads the Bismarck-Mandan Pitchers Association Monday League standings with a 25-2 record, just ahead of Sue Davis, who has a 28-5 mark. Marie Faris is third with a mark of 18-15.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): The decision to have Bismarck's public schools form boys tennis co-ops with Mandan and St. Mary's this season was born of desperation. The Braves and Saints lacked the manpower to field teams. Mandan athletic director Darryl Anderson expects the co-op arrangement to be a short one. "We want to have our own program again as soon as possible," Anderson said. "In the interim, however, we have to realize we don't have the numbers."

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Gary Schuler of Bowman fired a no-hitter to lead Bowman to an 8-0 victory over Lisbon in the Association of North Dakota Amateur Baseball Leagues state tournament at Jamestown. Schuler fanned 14 batters while going the distance against Lisbon. Fordville blanked Mantador 9-0 in the second game of the day.

Trivia Answer

Todd Hundley (1996) and Carlson Beltran (2006) share the New York Mets single-season record for home runs in a season with 41.
