10 YEARS AGO (2009): Minot used a strong first half to defeat Bismarck 3-1 in girls soccer at the Community Bowl. Alex Bachman-Williams, Bailey Bachman-Williams and Nicole Flythe gave Minot a 3-0 halftime lead and goalkeeper Makayla Sandvold made that advantage stand up. Allyson Sweep scored Bismarck's only goal with 9:58 to play.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Brent Walker, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound receiver from the University of Mary, has been taken in the Canadian Football League draft. Walker, a native of Calgary, was chosen by Edmonton in the fourth round.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Dave Heide, head football coach and social studies instructor at Bottineau High School, has resigned, effective at the close of the school year. While at Bottineau, Heide compiled a coaching record of 15-8-1.
