10 YEARS AGO (2009): Amanda Bennes won the high jump and long jump to lead the Bismarck girls to victory in the Dick Karlgaard Invitational track meet at the Community Bowl. The Demons scored 252 points for a comfortable lead on runner-up Century. The Patriots tallied 160.5 points.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Bismarck senior Trev White was in on four firsts as the Demons ran away from the field at the Dick Karlgaard Early Bird Invitational track meet. White ran legs on the 400- and 800-meter relays and finished first in the open 100 and 200. BHS outscored runner-up Minot 251-93.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Duane Kisse’s 1,651x1800 score gave him the expert crown in the state indoor Piston Championships in Fargo. Kisse is from Bismarck. Another Bismarck shooter, Ed Hayes, was the expert runner-up. Oliver Usher of Bismarck was the runner-up in the sharpshooter competition.
