10 YEARS AGO (2009): Savanna Fetzer slapped down 20 kills to lead Strasburg-Zeeland to a 3-2 volleyball victory over Eureka-Bowdle, S.D. Fetzer added 13 digs to her night's work. Kelsie Silvernagel followed up with 13 kills and 26 digs for the winning Clippers.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): All the scoring occurred in the first half as Center-Stanton contained New England-Regent for a 12-6 football victory at Center. Dan Erhardt scored on a 14-yard run in the first quarter and Derek Podoll scrambled in from a yard out in the second period to give the Wildcats a 12-0 lead. Chris Binstock scored the only Tiger touchdown on a 37-yard pass from Shawn Nieuwsma late in the second quarter.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Leon Conitz led Bismarck High School’s harriers to first place in the Dickinson Invitational cross country meet. Conitz turned in a time of 10:31 on a two-mile, snow-covered course to take individual honors. He led the Demons to a sparkling 19-point effort. It was Bismarck's 25th straight victory.
