10 YEARS AGO (2009): Minot State quarterback Derek Edholm threw touchdown passes to Troy Dale and Cameron Abram, helping the Beavers to a 21-7 victory over the University of Mary at the Community Bowl. Dustin Kroeplin rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown for Minot. U-Mary quarterback threw for 225 yards, but had three passes picked off.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Six members have been added to the University of Mary's Marauder Hall of Fame. The new inductees are Roger Haug, Lesley Jacobson, Ron Klein, Eugene "Hank" Taken Alive, Shayne Walth and Sister Thomas Welder.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Bismarck upended Minot 20-14 at Hughes Field, ending the Magicians' bid for the Western Dakota Association football championship. BHS held Minot's normally potent offense to 191 yards. Dave Sande and Ralph Botnen scored on runs for BHS, and Botnen hit Russ Henegar for a 31-yard scoring strike.

Trivia Answer

Josh Beckett (2003) and Reggie Jackson (1973, 1977) were both No. 2 overall picks in the draft and earned World Series MVP honors. Beckett won with the Florida Marlins. Jackson won with the Oakland A’s and New York Yankees.
