WEATHER FORCES MORE CHANGES

The storm that dropped over a foot of snow on the Bismarck/Mandan area forced another round of schedule changes on Friday.

Shiloh Christian and St. Mary's moved their football games from Friday to Monday. The Skyhawks will host Heart River at 7 p.m. The Saints host Watford City at 5:30.

Bismarck High and Minot set Monday as their makeup date from Thursday's postponement. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at the Bowl.

Legacy’s swimming dual against Mandan on Friday was postponed, as was the Minot Invite on Saturday, which Century, Bismarck and Legacy were scheduled to attend.

The West Region cross country meet will be held on Tuesday in Jamestown or Dickinson at 1 p.m., depending on course conditions.

The University of Mary women’s soccer team’s game on Friday at Crookston was postponed. No makeup was announced.

Also Friday, the University of Mary’s swimming dual against MSU-Moorhead was postponed.

MARAUDERS LOSE AT CROOKSTON

The University of Mary volleyball team started fast, but could not sustain Friday night, losing to Minnesota-Crookston 3-1.

The Marauders took the opening game 25-13, but Crookston rallied to claim the next three on its home court.

Morgan Schnabel had a double-double with 17 kills and 13 assists for the Marauders, who remain winless in NSIC play. Sydney Murphy passed out 35 assists. Natalia Cruz had 24 digs and three aces.

CHERNOW EARNS RAWLINGS AWARD

Bismarck Larks infielder Jack Chernow has been named as one of nine Rawlings ‘Finest in the Field’ award recipients for the 2019 Northwoods League season.

Chernow, who primarily played second base for the Larks, hit .267 with 58 hits, 40 runs, one home run, 19 runs batted in and 11 stolen bases in 62 games.

Chernow is a junior at Columbia University of the Ivy League.

UND WINS OPENER

Dixon Bowen scored two goals as the University of North Dakota hockey team opened the season with a 5-0 win over Canisius on Friday in Grand Forks.

Grant Mismash, Gabe Bast and Shane Pinto also scored for UND.

UND goalie Adam Scheel faced just 11 shots to earn the shutout victory. Game 2 of the series is Saturday at 7:07 p.m.
