ST. MARY'S COACH COPAS RESIGNS
Shannon Copas, St. Mary's head girls basketball coach the past six seasons, has resigned.
Copas, who led the Saints to a third-place finish at the state tournament in 2018, had been in the St. Mary's program the past seven years.
Copas was named the Class A coach of the year in 2018 after leading the Saints to the state tournament for the first time since 1998.
"We've been fortunate to have Shannon as our head coach the past six years," St. Mary's athletic director Bruce Schumacher said. "Coach Copas was fully invested in each of his athletes and he treated all of his teams as an extension of his family.
"He equipped his girls not only with basketball skills but also with qualities that will help them be successful young women."
