LARKS BLANK WATERLOO

Three Larks pitchers combined on a shutout and Cristian Montes hit a three-run homer as Bismarck whitewashed Waterloo (Iowa) 11-0 on Monday night in Northwoods League baseball.

Jeff Lindgren tossed five scoreless innings, Matthew Ponsiglione spun three clean frames and Michael Farnell worked the ninth to lead the Larks to their 17th win of the season.

Montes homered in the second inning as the Larks scored in five of their nine at bats. Jacob Nesbit delivered a bases-loaded double in the top of the sixth as the Larks blew it open, 10-0.

At 17-10, Bismarck trails North Division leading Duluth by just one game. The first half of the Northwoods League season ends on July 2. Mankato is also 17-10.

Matthew Warkentin had three of Bismarck's 11 hits. The two teams play again tonight at 6:35.
