U.S. U-18 TEAM TOPPLES CANADA

The U.S. U-18 women's hockey team, which includes Britta Curl of Bismarck, defeated Canada 6-2 on Tuesday at the World Championships in Dmitrov, Russia.

The Americans secured the top seed from Group A in preliminary round action  and advanced to the semifinals. The U.S. will play on Friday at 6:30 a.m.

Curl was named the U.S. Player of the Game in Sunday's victory over Russia.

In Tuesday's win, five players scored goals. Taylor Heise of Lake City, Minn., netted a pair.
