HOARD HIRED AS MANDAN HOCKEY COACH

 Stephanie Hoard, an assistant coach at Minot the past two seasons, has been named head girls hockey coach at Mandan High School.

 She is a physical education teacher at Wing High School.

 Hoard, who played Division I hockey at Bemidji, Minn., State, served as a volunteer coach for the Thief River Falls, Minn., High School and North Dakota State University club teams before her employment at Wing.

 She holds a a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in science in physical education leadership from NDSU. 

 "Coach Hoard has a strong passion, excitement and knowledge of the game, Mark Wiest, Mandan High School activities director was quoted as saying in a prepared release. "... Coach Hoard is also very familiar with the West Region's girls hockey programs. We're confident Steph will continue to build on the success previous coach Matt Strinden achieved and take the program to the next level."

 Strinden resigned this spring after two seasons at Braves head coach.
