Alexis Zeis and the University of Mary Distance Medley Relay team picked up wins at the opening day of the Northern Sun indoor meet in Mankato, Minn., on Friday.

Zeis won the 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:36.74. She was followed by teammate Jaiden Schuette, who took second.

In the DMR, Rebekkah Bond, Cali Modglin, Bree Erickson and Kate Fox edged Augustana for the win, 11:49.73-11:51.55.

Overall, the Marauders 33 points trail only Mankato's 36.5 in the 13-team field.

The Marauder men totaled 25 points, good for sixth out of the 11 teams.

Luxon Glor and Derek Myers had one third-place finish each.

Glor went 23-1.75 in the long jump.

Myers was part of a close finish in the 3K. He crossed in 8:32.91, two tenths behind Bashir Aidrus of Southwest Minnesota State.

Wayne State (42) leads the team standings. Mankato (37.5) is second as the meet concludes today in Mankato.

Tennis team wins

The University of Mary tennis team edged Southwest Minnesota State 5-4 on Friday in Bismarck.

Eileen Leong went 2-0 in the dual to lead the Marauders.

At No. 3 singles, Leong rolled past Hannah Starke, 6-4, 6-1. In doubles, Leong teamed with Emily Bichler for an 8-6 win over Paige Janka and Starke.

U-Mary No. 1 singles player Lucia Bolibruch outlasted Gabby Tellijohn 10-8 in the decisive third set for a 2-1 win.

Cristina Bremar also went three, earning a 3-6, 6-0, 10-5 decision over Janka at No. 5 singles.

The Marauders' other win came from Lisa Anderson and Danielle Wolf at No. 3 doubles with an 8-4 triumph over Gabby Potthoff and Olivia Watzke.

The Marauders are right back at it on Saturday, hosting Minnesota State Mankato at 12:30 p.m. at Capital Racquet and Fitness.
