10 YEARS AGO (2008): Laura Kraft finished far ahead of the field in the Mandan Invitational golf tournament at Prairie West Golf Course with a 71. That gave the Jamestown sophomore a seven-stroke edge on Shantel Montgomery of Minot and Ashley Beard of Williston who shared second place. Montgomery led Minot to the team championship. The Majettes shot a 336, well ahead of Century's 355.

20 YEARS AGO (1998): Center-Stanton scored 31 points in the second half, but fell short in a 52-47 girls basketball loss at Underwood. Underwood led 23-16 at halftime. Lindsay Henke of Center-Stanton scored a game-high 22 points. Kayla Baumann paced a balanced Underwood attack with 13 points.

50 YEARS AGO (1968): Tom Schnickel threw three touchdown passes in Scranton's 19-8 Cannonball Conference football victory at New England, but didn't finish the game, nor will he finish the season. Schnickel suffered a broken collar bone in the third quarter and is done for the season. Scranton improved to 2-1 on the season, while New England slipped to 0-2-1.
