10 YEARS AGO (2008): Even though he was scratched from the lineup for the last Bismarck Bobcats game, winger Nick Jensen was all smiles. Jensen was happy because he will be playing for Denmark's national team in the World Junior Hockey Championships next month.
20 YEARS AGO (1998): Kelly Simenson, the golf pro at Mandan's Prairie West golf course, was chosen as teacher of the year. Simenson was honored by the Dakota Chapter of the Minnesota Professional Golfers Association Section.
50 YEARS AGO (1968): Two Bismarck men have been named to head their respective units of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association. Meeting in Fargo, the association elected Roger Higgins of KFYR to lead the sportscasters and chose Gary Clark of the Bismarck Tribune to head the sportscasters.
One. Jacob Bernard-Dockter, a freshman defenseman from Canmore, Alberta, was a 2018 first-round pick (No. 26 overall) of the Ottawa Senators.
