10 YEARS AGO (2008): Dickinson Trinity racked up 15 service aces to defeat Center-Stanton 3-0 in first-round play in the state Class B volleyball tournament at the Minot State Dome. Sheyenne Plummer and Breanna Messer served five aces apiece for the winning Titans.

20 YEARS AGO (1998): Davis Ruter scores touchdowns, one after the other. He scored four times to lead Sioux Fall College to a 29-25 comeback victory over the University of Mary in the first round of the NAIA football playoffs. Ruter carried 26 times for 76 yards and caught four passes for 44 yards on the Cougars' home turf.

50 YEARS AGO (1968): Mankato State College has withdrawn from the Northern Intercollegiate Conference and will enter the North Central Conference. The Indians will begin NCC competition next fall, according to Jack McClelland, commissioner of the North Central Conference. Mankato, which has an enrollment of over 12,000 students, became a member of the NIC in 1932.
