MSU-MOORHEAD DEFEATS U-MARY

Elise Bakke led the way with 10 kills as Minnesota State-Moorhead posted a 3-1 Northern Sun victory over the University of Mary on Tuesday at the McDowell Activity Center.

Teeya Doppler added nine kills, Layla Sanati-Zaer added eight and the Dragons (9-15, 4-12 NSIC) got seven apiece from Kaylyn Jenkins, Bridget Witzmann and Amanda Carlson in a 25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22 victory over the Marauders.

Morgan Schnabel had 13 kills and Amanda Doyke 12 to lead U-Mary (1-24, 0-17 NSIC). Sidney Murphy had 20 assists, Anna Nietfeld, Julianna Hughes and Hannah Hanson had three blocks apiece, Natalia Cruz had 21 digs and Murphy had four kills.

U-Mary hosts Augustana on Friday and Wayne State on Saturday.

MURILLO EARNS SWIMMING AWARD

University of Mary sophomore Victoria Murillo has been named the NSIC swimmer of the week.

Murillo won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.19) and 1,000 freestyle (10:40.95) and swam a leg on the Marauders’ winning 200 medley relay team in a dual victory over Northern State on Friday.

The Marauders’ next competition is Nov. 21-23 at the Sioux Falls Invite.
