Bismarck Bobcats forward Mitchell Walinski, left, collides with Keenan Lund of Minot in the second period of Friday night's game at the VFW Sports Center.

Bismarck sprinted out of the gate and never looked back, skating to a 5-3 victory over Minot on Friday night in NAHL action.

The Bobcats scored three first-period goals on their home ice to pull a little further ahead of the Minotauros in the Central Division standings.

Simon Morberg tallied two goals for the Bobcats, who climbed to 47 points with the win, three more than the Minotauros.

Alex Trombley and Joseph Mancuso also lit the lamp in the opening period for Bismarck.

Morberg scored at the 8:31 mark, but Minot equalized 37 seconds later on Austin Dollimer's goal.

But the Bobcats got goals from Trombley (12:08) and Mancuso (12:45) just 37 seconds apart to take a 3-1 edge.

Andrew Bellant's 13th goal of the season gave the Bobcats a comfortable 4-1 lead at the 5-minute mark of the second period. Bellant had assisted earlier on Morberg's goal, his 10th of the campaign.

Minot made it interesting late, pulling within 4-3 on goals by Grant Loven and Ondrej Pavel.

But Morberg pushed the lead back to two (5-3) with just over two minutes left.

Bellant finished with a goal and two assists.

The two teams meet again tonight at 7:15 at the VFW Sports Center before heading to Minot to play on Sunday.
