Flasher's Jaron Reis (20), left, is guarded by Turtle Lake's Gunner Jacobs (4) during a game earlier this season. Both teams are playing in the Region 5 tournament this week at the Bismarck Event Center.

All eight Class B boys region basketball tournaments set to begin on Monday were postponed due to the winter storm.

As of the Tribune's deadline on Monday night, all eight tournaments were scheduled to begin on Tuesday. That could change, however, pending the weather situation.

"We're planning to start Day 1 on Tuesday but that's kinda up in the air right now," said Aric Lee of Shiloh Christian, host of the Region 5 tournament at the Bismark Event Center. "Every other region is in the same boat."

As of now, the quarterfinals will be played on Tuesday, beginning at 3 p.m. The semifinals will be played on Thursday, beginning at 6 p.m.

For Region 5, the third place and championship games are for now scheduled to be played on Friday at the Exhibit Hall inside the Event Center, beginning at 6 p.m. The Bismarck Bucks play their season opener on Friday on the main floor of the Event Center.

If the tournament can not start on Tuesday, Wednesday is not an option for Region 5. Under that scenario, the tournament would begin on Thursday. The final day, Saturday, March 9, likely would be moved to Bismarck Legacy High School. The Event Center is hosting a concert on Saturday.

"We have Plan B, C, and D," Lee said. "It just depends on what happens with the weather."

Today's schedule, weather permitting, features Shiloh Christian playing Washburn at 3 p.m., followed by Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky vs. New Salem-Almont, Wilton-Wing meeting Flasher and Standing Rock against Underwood.
