The Bismarck State College men's basketball team got Mon-Dak play started with a win on Sunday.

The Mystic women fell just short as both games in Devils Lake were decided by three points.

Brody Nieuwsma poured in 27 points for the BSC men, who nailed down win No. 7 on the season with a 92-89 triumph.

Nieuwsma, a sophomore from Strasburg, also had eight rebounds and three assists in the nip-and-tuck affair.

Austin Slaughter had another strong game for the Mystics with 18 points and 15 rebounds. 

Kaelen Johnson contributed 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists. KyJuan Johnson also dished out six assists.

Cedric Boone's 19 points paced the Royals.

The BSC women led 33-28 at halftime, but the Royals rallied on their home floor.

Hannah Hanson piled up 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots for BSC, which fell to 8-7 on the season.

Taylor Schmeichel added 17 points and Nicole Bunting 11 for the Mystics.

Annie Jorgenson's 19 points led Lake Region.

Up next for the Mystics is a home doubleheader on Thursday against Dakota College Bottineau.
