Cade Feeney and Connor Hanson combined for 11 innings on the mound on Wednesday at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark.

Between the two Governors' pitchers, they allowed zero runs.

Feeney fired a five-inning shutout, while Hanson hurled six scorless as the Govs blanked Fargo Post 400 11-0 and 7-0.

With the sweep, Bismarck improved to 19-9 overall and 6-3 in the statewide Class AA American Legion standings.

Feeney fired a five-hitter in the opener.

The hard-throwing right-hander allowed just two singles to Post 400 while racking up nine strikeouts.

The Govs scored in all four of their at bats and led 7-0 after two innings.

Connor Hanson, Matt Guenther, Jalen Ziegler and Paydin Slette had two hits each. Ziegler drove in two runs and Slette slapped a triple.

Leadoff batter Dawson Weikum scored three runs.

Hanson piled up 10 strikeouts and allowed just five hits in the nightcap victory.

Mason Thorenson worked a clean seventh inning with a pair of Ks.

Treyton Mattern led the way offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Matt Miller also was 2-for-4 with a double, while Ben Weaver went 2-for-3. Matt Guenther was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Kain Carlson had two of Post 400's five hits.

Larks 3, Thunder Bay 1

Zack Jones turned in six strong innings on the mound for the Bismarck Larks in their 3-1 road win over Thunder Bay on Wednesday night in Northwoods League action in Canada.

It was the second straight victory for the Larks, who scored all of their runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Catcher CJ Schaefer delivered the key blow with a two-run single, scoring Jacob Nesbit and Tristen Carranza. Schaefer also doubled in the contest.

Pitcher Matt Butler worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief before Mathew Munden pinned down the save by working a scoreless ninth inning for Bismarck.

The Larks (2-6, 27-17) and Bordercats (4-4, 17-27) play game 3 of their four-game set tonight at 6:05.
