YANKEES SEND BOLLINGER TO MINORS

Former Minot High baseball standout Ryan Bollinger got the proverbial cup of coffee in the big leagues recently.

One day after being called up from the minor leagues by the New York Yankees, Bollinger was sent back down on Sunday. Bollinger, a left-handed pitcher, did not appear in a game for the Yankees.

Bollinger, 27, went a combined 3-1 with a 1.86 ERA in five starts between Double-A and Triple-A this year, his first in the Yankees' organization. In 29 innings, the 6-foot-6 Bollinger allowed just 18 hits with 20 strikeouts.

Bollinger, who has pitched professionally in Germany and Australia, will report to the Yankees' Double-A affiliate in Trenton (N.J.).

Bollinger was a 47th-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Philles in 2009 as an outfielder.
