10 YEARS AGO (2009): The St. Mary's girls held off Mandan for a 51-48 West Region basketball victory. With the home win the Saints ended a drought against Mandan that stretched back at least a decade. Senior guard Brooke Christensen led the St. Mary's attack with 18 points. The visiting Braves, who led 24-21 at halftime, got a 17-point effort from Steph Pedersen.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): The Linton Lions attacked the basket and put away the Center Wildcats 71-41 in Class B boys basketball action at the Civic Center Jamboree. Ben Renz and Matt Gross got Linton going in the right direction with 21 and 18 points, respectively. Matt Bieber countered with 15 for Center.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Bismarck Junior College's matmen won their fourth straight Mon-Dak Conference dual, downing Miles Community College 27-11 on the road. BJC won seven bouts, including Bob Youness' pin of Ron Neednes at heavyweight. Don Eisenbarth won his 16th straight match at 118 pounds.
