10 YEARS AGO (2009): Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock opened a 38-21 lead and held off Central Prairie 57-50 in Class B girls basketball at Gackle. Jessica Weiser and Kaylin Sheets led the way for HMB with 20 and 17 points, respectively. Alecia Krapp paced Central Prairie with 20 points.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): A trio of Demons -- Rachelle Gossett, Jenny Gossett and Jenni Voegele -- combined for 47 kills and a whopping 21 blocks to lead Bismarck to a 3-1 season-opening volleyball victory over Century.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): The Washburn Cardinals of coach Charles Sheldon, their wings clipped by graduation, are looking at a rebuilding season in basketball. The only returning lettermen are seniors Wayne Carlson, Miles Dockter, James Sheldon and Tom Sheldon.
