10 YEARS AGO (2009): Bismarck's man-to-man defense pulled the plug on St. Mary's as the Demons beat the visiting Saints 59-39 in Class A boys basketball. Jalen Finley made the plays for BHS on offense, scoring 21 points. Jon Preszler led the St. Mary's attack with 12.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Turtle Lake opened a 40-18 halftime lead and defeated visiting Max 67-50 in boys basketball. Jason Hahn and John Christensen scored 18 points each for the winning Trojans. Tim Plesul's 17 points paced Max.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Although it lost three starters to personal fouls, Slavia Bratislava, a Czechoslovakian basketball team, downed Bismarck Junior College 74-65 at the Civic Center. The game was tied 36-36 at halftime. The game, played by AAU rules, was marred by 51 fouls, 32 by the Czechs. Jaroslav Bahnik led all scorers with 20 points. Dale Dobriener paced the Mystics with 17.

Trivia Answer

Montana State holds a 21-14 advantage on NDSU, but the Bison have won two of the last three, including last season’s 52-10 playoff victory.
