The Central Dakota Chapter of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association is hosting its second annual "Youth Hunt" on Saturday.

The free event begins at 8 a.m. at Capital City Sporting Clays in north Bismarck. It features a hunter safety refresher, a short session on the chapter, followed by group field hunts accompanied by a mentor and a gun dog. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult.

"We want to get local youth excited about hunting, hunting dogs, North Dakota outdoor recreation and conservation efforts," chapter President Bryan Guillory said."We had been involved with Pheasants Forever's similar event in the past, and last year started our own event to continue to reach out to youth interested in hunting and give back to the community."
