The Dakota Prairie Grasslands is proposing to increase fees at 10 campgrounds and implement a new fee at another.

The move is aimed at "providing high levels of service to visitors at popular recreation sites," the U.S. Forest Service said.

The proposal would add a new fee at Coal Creek Campground and bring several other campgrounds into alignment with other sites offering similar benefits and services.

The Dakota Prairie Grasslands is proposing a new fee of $10 per night at Coal Creek Campground; a fee increase from $6 to $20 per night at Buffalo Gap Campground; and an increase from $6 to $10 per night at the Bennett, Burning Coal Vein, CCC, Elkhorn, Hankinson Hills, Magpie, Sather Lake and Wannagan campgrounds.

Public comments on the proposal are due Dec. 17. Comments can be mailed to: Dakota Prairie Grasslands, Attn: Rec Fee Proposal, 2000 Miriam Circle, Bismarck, N.D. 58501; or emailed to r1recfee@fs.fed.us.
