The North Dakota Cooperative Fur Harvester Education Program is sponsoring a class in Bismarck next month for anyone interested in trapping or hunting furbearers.
Participants will learn the history of the fur trade in the Dakotas, furbearer identification, and tools and techniques for harvesting and handling furbearers.
People who complete the course will get a certification card that is recognized by any state requiring trapper education prior to purchasing a license.
The class is Aug. 6 and 8 from 5-9 p.m., and Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The course is free and takes 16 hours to complete. People can sign up on the North Dakota Game and Fish Department website at www.gf.nd.gov by clicking on the education link and fur harvester education.
