If you are of age and are appalled that the mayor-in-training finds it necessary to stage a gun rights message before the Parkland students presentation recently, vote with your feet. His tired and obsolete rants are not as important as giving your support to the Parkland students. Beyond that, you don't have to fight for your right to a safer city.
There are many exciting places that have taken their ideas to heart. When you are ready to attend college, other training, or to get a new job consider Oregon, Washington State, New Jersey, or Florida, which have acted to improve the safety of their people through moderate changes to legal gun ownership. Bismarck needs its young people far more than you need Bismarck.
If the mayor-elect doesn't think that downtown is important (hub for young people) and doesn't even have the decency to allow these visitors to give their message without detracting from their spotlight, then you owe him and this city nothing. Vote with your feet and go where your lives and the lives of any future kids are deemed important. Go where your ideas are respected and where you can join others to improve our cities. Leave Bakken to turn out the lights after everyone leaves.
