The crisp autumn evening of Oct. 21 was near perfect. The Bismarck-Mandan Symphony concert promised to be special. The prospect if seeing Wilford Brimley was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Beverly Everett’s performance on organ was outstanding. Everaldo Martinez was purely magical on the violin. With Brimley narrating, and the orchestra performing “Quiet Heroes: A Symphonic Tribute to the Flag Raisers of Iwo Jima,” it was an unforgettable night.
The orchestra was in top form. Brimley’s emotional narration was patriotic and poignant. Few eyes stayed dry. The recognition of veterans in the audience was moving as well. Bravo, BMSO, for the splendid concert, and for the wonderful choice of having Brimley visit our city.
