Recently I participated in Rep. Kevin Cramer’s Facebook live event, and I must say I’m disappointed. I asked Cramer a simple question about his tax bill: Why did he make the tax cuts for corporations permanent, while tax cuts for mom and pop shops and middle-class families are only temporary?
Cramer talked for a while, but didn’t bother to answer my question. I can’t say I’m surprised. If I’d written a bill to give big benefits to corporations, while sticking small businesses and working families with the bill, I wouldn’t be eager to defend it either.
Cramer will keep arguing that his bill benefits small business, but folks like me who actually operate our own small businesses know better. And North Dakotans deserve better from their elected officials.
