Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., is seeking a U.S. Senate seat, but I think we still need to hear an explanation for his votes to undermine our health care system.

During the health care debate, Cramer alleged that people with pre-existing conditions might try to "abuse" or “game" the system.

How could he have said that? How are people with asthma, diabetes or cancer trying to “game" the system? Simply by seeking affordable health care?

No one should be punished for being born or diagnosed with a condition at no fault of their own. Nor should any family be forced to file for bankruptcy simply because their medical bills are too expensive.

Cramer’s votes during the health care debate would have devastated the nearly 300,000 North Dakotans who have some form of pre-existing condition — making health insurance either completely out of reach or a bank breaker for North Dakotans.

We need a U.S. senator who will stand up for all of us — not somebody who puts his partisan agenda above the health care needs of thousands of North Dakotans.
