Wednesday is the deadline for North Dakota hunters who were unsuccessful in the initial deer license lottery to submit an application for a remaining license.
More than 6,000 deer gun licenses remained in 19 hunting units after the lottery, according to the state Game and Fish Department. Online applications for those licenses began July 10 on the department's website, www.gf.nd.gov.
The state this year made 64,500 deer gun licenses available. More than 78,000 hunters applied for a license, in addition to about 13,500 gratis applicants. Only resident applicants who were unsuccessful in the lottery can apply for the remaining licenses.
