North Dakota's third medical marijuana dispensary is opening, in Williston.
Dispensaries are operating in Fargo and Grand Forks. The Harvest of Williston site is scheduled to open Friday at 120 26th St. E., Unit 500, in Williston, according to the state Health Department's Medical Marijuana Division.
A fourth dispensary is expected to open soon, in Bismarck.
North Dakota voters approved medical marijuana in November 2016. The Health Department has been working on the system since lawmakers first crafted rules for the drug in early 2017. The state hopes to have dispensaries operating in all eight major cities by fall.
The Health Department began accepting applications last October from residents for medical marijuana cards. More than 750 cards have been issued. The state expects as many as 4,000 residents will legally be using the drug by summer 2021. That’s based on the experience in Delaware, which North Dakota officials have cited as a model.
