An initiated ballot outlining qualified electors will be placed on the ballot for the upcoming election on Nov. 6, according to Secretary of State Al Jaeger.
If approved by voters, the language of Article II of the state Constitution would be changed from "every citizen" of the United States is a qualified elector to "only a citizen" of the United States is a qualified elector.
A sponsoring committee delivered petitions to the Secretary of State's office on July 6. Of the 35,637 signatures submitted, 32,786 were accepted as being qualified. To place a constitutional measure on the ballot requires the signatures of 26,904 qualified electors.
