Man dies from injuries in accident

A Sidney, Mont., man is dead after an accident involving a cattle trailer Friday morning in a pasture 20 miles southwest of Alexander, in far western North Dakota.

North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that 33-year-old Jacob Heen, also of Sidney, was backing up a 7510 John Deere tractor with a cattle trailer to a fence to begin loading. Eighty-nine-year-old Arne Skedsvold was helping load cattle but became pinned between a fence post and the trailer. He sustained serious injuries.

He was taken to the Sidney Health Center where he died from his injuries.

The McKenzie County Sheriff's Office, North Dakota Highway Patrol and Richland County (Mont.) Ambulance responded. 

Names released in crash on icy roads 

BELFIELD -- The name of the Belfield woman who died in a crash on icy roads early Thursday morning, March 29, in western North Dakota has been released.

The North Dakota State Highway Patrol said Gwen Egly, 57, died when her vehicle collided with a pickup driven by Jacob Cullip, 24, of Dickinson.

In the 5:45 a.m. crash five miles north of Belfield, the Patrol said Egly was enroute to Dickinson when she lost control of the vehicle on icy roads with her vehicle entering the other lane where she collided with Cullip’s pickup.

Cullip was taken by ambulance to the Dickinson hospital and was treated and later released.

The crash remains under investigation.
