Male dies in rollover accident

An unnamed male driver was killed Tuesday in a one-vehicle rollover 15 miles north of Watford City in McKenzie County.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the man driving a 2004 Chevy Silverado crested a hill on 41st Street and lost control on a stretch of compacted snow and ice. The vehicle slid into the ditch, overturned and the passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and died on scene. The time of the crash is unknown, the patrol said.

As of last week, there were 127 traffic fatalities in North Dakota — two fewer than last year at the same time — and two-thirds of the victims were not wearing seatbelts, according to the Department of Transportation website.
