Central Dakota Forensic Nurse Examiner Program received $25,000 to train nurses to do forensic exams for sexual assault victims in Williston.
Farm Credit Services of Mandan partnered with Farm Credit Service of Minot and Minnesota-based Agribank to award the Rural Community Grant Funds grant that, in addition to covering training costs, will pay for examining room supplies.
“We will be able to pay the nurses for their time and travel now,” Tisha Scheuer, executive director, said in a statement. “We see at least one case of sexual assault a week in the Williston area.”
Central Dakota Forensic Nurse Examiner Program recently set up new programs in Dickinson and Minot.
The Rural Community Grant Fund accepts applications for funding of infrastructure and community improvement in western North Dakota. Applications are available online at AgriBank.com.
