Charlie Bullinger’s assertion that climate change is only a theory should be of little comfort to those who will inevitably pay the price when the theory becomes fact.
The young will pay the price because, by the time the theory becomes indisputable, they will be stuck with the consequences and the solutions to those consequences. The fact that it was the older generation that polluted and caused you the misery you now have will make it all the more miserable. The real fact that will stick in your mind is the fact that those older generation folks included your parents and grandparents who simply didn’t care if you were stuck with their consequences.
What is not obvious is that the older generation will have a price to pay as well (besides the fact that your descendants will hate you). The Bible clearly says, “As ye sow, so shall ye reap.” It does not say, “As ye sow, so may you reap" or “could you reap.” The message is clearly that we will pay for whatever disservice we do to others. Life is one big teachable moment and we were told what the lesson plan was. We can deny that the teacher and the lesson exist, but we do so at our own risk. No one will be able to prove to anyone that either is real until it is too late for the deniers to change, just like no one will be able to prove life can really suck with no education until that life is over.
All we have to do to prevent climate change is to live in reality. A big house or a powerful vehicle or all the toys in the world will not make you a happy person. You have to like yourself.
