Leo L. Keller, 91, was born in rural New Salem on Nov. 5, 1927, to Henry Sr. and Mary (Lieb) Keller. He passed away peacefully March 11, 2019, surrounded by family.
Memorial services for Leo will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Bismarck Funeral Home. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Leo was married to Jean (Timpe) on Oct. 29, 1951, and had five children, Terry, Ross, Laurie (Mark), Jody, and Lynn (Marcy); and grandchildren, Dylan Kadrmas, Shelby (Brandon), Shayne and McCoy Keller.
Leo farmed and ranched on his family’s homestead until 1992. Following his retirement from farming he and Jean relocated to Bismarck and Leo drove the courtesy van for Corwin Churchill/Ryan Motors until 2010. Driving the courtesy van was a perfect fit for Leo. He had a passion for people and loved meeting and getting to know customers during their transports.
A man of simple pleasures, Leo loved baseball, both the Minnesota Twins and his two grandsons’ games, playing cards and games while visiting with friends and family, and had a love for music, with an affinity for classic country music and accordion. As a younger man he enjoyed dancing, camping and fishing. He had a rich sense of humor and loved to laugh. Leo was most happy spending time with family and enjoyed a special relationship with each of his grandchildren.
Leo was proud to be a cancer survivor and for maintaining his sobriety. He mentored others through the sharing of his stories.
Leo was preceded in death by two of his sons, Terry in 2001, and Ross (Skeeter) in 1965; sisters, Florence Joersz and Edna Monson; and brothers, Elmer, Wilmer and Henry.
A very special thank-you to the staff of St. Gabriel’s and Lindsey NP-C from Mid Dakota Clinic.
