LaVonne Kurtz-Scott, 86, Bismarck, passed away May 13, 2019, at Augusta Place, Bismarck.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at DaWise Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hazelton Cemetery at a later date, as cremation has taken place.
LaVonne was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Bismarck, to Gustav and Esther (Freier) Olson. She was raised and educated in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School. She attended Valley State Teachers College, where she earned her teaching degree. On Nov. 26, 1952, she married Calvin Kurtz in Bismarck. They farmed east of Hazelton for over 30 years. He passed away in 1985. She married Christopher Scott on Aug. 5, 2005. He passed away in 2018. Over the years, she was a teacher and worked at the Linton Hospital and clinic. She liked to travel, read, and spend time with family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dawn (Roger) Rostvet and Melody (Douglas) Irvin, both of Bismarck; two sons, Corey Kurtz, Bismarck, and Joel Kurtz, Mandan; son-in-law, Dean Bohn, Mandan; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents; step father, John Holzer; two husbands; daughter, Kim Bohn; two sisters, Delphine Kurtz and Joyce Olson; and brother, Glenn Olson.
