Lt. Col. Larry M. Weigum, U.S. Army (ret.), passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, in San Antonio, Texas. Larry was born in Beulah on Aug. 29, 1943, to William Weigum and Ruby Engelman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ron.
Larry completed a baccalaureate degree at University of Mary in Bismarck in 1966 and received a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 1968. He returned to Bismarck and taught at Mary College before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969.
Larry was stationed in Tokyo, Japan; San Francisco, Calif.; Columbia, S.C; Augusta, Ga.; Landstuhl, Germany, and San Antonio. He retired from the army as a lieutenant colonel in 1993 and remained in San Antonio where he spent his time golfing, painting and spending as much time as possible with his family.
Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eileen; two amazing children, daughter, Kelle Hand, son, Kyle and his wife, Shannon; two very special grandchildren, Drew and Hannah Hinckley; three sisters, Barbara Schulz, Marguerite Ulmer, Bismarck, and Marilyn Wohlk, Underwood; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Porter Loring North, San Antonio. Private inurnment will take place in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
