Kayla was born April 25, 1983, in Bismarck, the daughter of Marcia (Leiseth) Hansen and Thomas Knudson. She grew up and went to school in Mandan.

In 2003 she moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where she worked at City Bank. She moved to Belle Fourche, S.D., in 2009, where she was a stay at home mom, until moving to Brookings, S.D., where she worked for Daktronics.

She and Tim Curtis were married September 4, 2010, in Belle Fourche. In 2014, she and her family settled in Jamestown where she worked as a loan officer at First Community Credit Union.

Kayla was involved with Jamestown Gymnastics, was the chairperson of the Real World Camp of Jamestown, delivered meals on wheels, and also did volunteer work for various FCCU events.

Her love of baking and hosting were unmatched.

Kayla’s love for her family and friends never wavered. She loved traveling to make memories in new and old destinations.

Kayla was a great friend to everyone and was the person you looked to when you needed uplifting. When Kayla found a passion, she threw her whole self into it. Only half doing something was definitely not who she was. Kayla will be missed dearly by all.

She is survived by her husband, Tim; 3 children, Kamden, Ayleigh, and Alyvia, of Jamestown; her mother, Marcia Hansen, Mandan; her father, Thomas Knudson, Bismarck; one brother, Jason (Wendy) Knudson; two sisters, Kristin (Shawn) Oban, Kim Hemphill, all of Bismarck; along with seven nieces and five nephews.

Kayla was preceded in death by her step-father, Howard Hansen; one nephew, Shawn Oban Jr.; and one niece, Harper Waklee.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Community Credit Union for the Kayla Curtis Financial Memorial Fund for financial education.
