Joyce Mary Johnson, 86, Bismarck, passed away Feb. 7, 2019 at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bismarck. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. led by Catholic Daughters. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Joyce was born Jan. 21, 1933, in Walhalla, the daughter of Adelard and Alexina (Chaput) Lepire. She attended a rural elementary school and graduated from Park River High School. After high school, she attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. She was employed at First State Bank, Park River, First National Bank, East Grand Forks, Minn., and McRutherford Potato Co., Walhalla.
Joyce married Herbert Johnson Sept. 6, 1954, at Our Lady Sacred Heart Church, Olga. Together they raised six children.
She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Gerard's Guild, and the Serra Club. Joyce enjoyed being with family, grandchildren, and crafting. She also loved serving her church family.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Paula (Bob) Miller, Elk City, Okla.; son, Brad (Ronna) Johnson, Bismarck; son, Brian (Terrie) Johnson, Maple Grove, Minn.; daughter, Michelle (Jim) DeDakis, Chandler, Ariz.; son, Mark (Tonya) Johnson, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; daughter, Nikki (Ryan) Heiniger, Burlington, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; sisters, Delores Frome, Madison, Wis., Donna Reller, Waconia, Minn., and Marjorie Gillespie, Larimore; and brother, Gary Lepire, Walhalla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her parents; and one sister, Elaine Darling.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made to The Catholic Daughters of Corpus Christi Church, Bismarck.
