Joseph Frank Zook, 93, Bismarck, passed away Oct. 8, 2018, at his home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Church of Ascension Catholic Church, Bismarck, with Msgr. James Braaten officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with a vigil/rosary service beginning at 5 p.m., at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Joseph was born March 2, 1925, in Beach, to Frank and Elizabeth (Kramer) Zook. He was raised and educated in Beach where he graduated from high school. On July 2, 1947, he married Evelyn Morgen in Wibaux, Mont. Joseph served two years in the U.S. Army. He worked the family farm near Beach, until 1975 when they moved to Beach and he worked for the Home on the Range for Boys. When he retired, they moved to Bismarck.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Connie (Richard) Heard, and Renee (Terry) Barnaby, all of Bismarck; three sons, Ronald (Cathy) Zook, Beach, Richard (Dawn) Zook, Fargo, and Garold (Nancy) Zook, Buckeye, Ariz.; one brother, Bernard (Eleanor) Zook, West Lafayette, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Timothy Heard, Jacqueline Heard, Jason Zook, Trina Montplasir, Jennifer Cohen, Christine Brazell, Bradley Zook, Jessie, Scotty, and Bobbie Owens, and K’Cee and K’Lee Barnaby; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lawrence; two sisters, Doris Boyd and Francis Zook; and grandchild, Evelyn Brazell.
