Frank Schmaltz, 80, entered into eternal life June 7, 2019, surrounded by his wife and family.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., at Church of St. Mary, 535 S. Lewis St., Shakopee, Minn. Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery, Shakopee.

Frank was born March 7, 1939, in Hague, the son of Aloysious and Magdalena Schmaltz. After graduating high school, he entered the U.S. Army, where he served as a company clerk. He married Patty Leary in 1960. They had four wonderful daughters a beautiful 59-year marriage. Frank was so proud and nurturing to his daughters and they adored him and each former their own beautiful relationship.

Frank was full of charisma and possessed an independent entrepreneurial spirit. He owned several businesses in Bismarck and retired after a career in the food brokerage business before he and Patty moved to Shakopee in 2000 to be close to their new granddaughter. Two more grandchildren followed and Frank doted on them like they were the only three people on Earth. Frank loved to fish, hunt and play Pinochle, but best of all, he loved visiting over a good meal and some beverages with friends and family. Frank had a tremendous wit and kindness that let you know he genuinely cared about you and everyone he met.

Frank is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patty; daughters, Mickey, Colleen Reid (Bill), Kathleen and Jody O'Brien (Scott); grandchildren, John Zacher, Madeline, Allison and Luke O'Brien; brothers, Al, Jerry, Tom, Dan and Patrick; sisters, Lil, Janice, Marge, Carole, Bernice and Marlene.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard, Chuck, George, Virgil and Jim.

In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorial to Shakopee Area Catholic School in Shakopee.
